My name is Dominic Anaya, DO, LMT, and I started Inner Physician Medical Massage because I have seen the immense value that craniosacral work has been to those who have been injured and those in pain. I have also seen those same people become trapped in a medical system that has little to offer beyond drugs and surgery. Many of my clients have experienced years of being sent from doctor to specialist to yet another doctor, all the time wondering if anything will help ease their pain. I respect all forms of healing, including Western medicine, but I also know that each person in pain is an individual, and not just a condition. In order to best help those people who come through my door, I have spent my life learning several different healing modalities; I primarily work through the craniosacral system, but through this work I incorporate all my past experience and knowledge. My foundation is rooted in the western sciences, having earned my chemistry degree in 1993 through the University of New Hampshire. In the same year, however, I began to study Chinese medicine, going to the Oriental Cultural Institute in Boston, MA to study Tai Chi, Qi Gung and Tui Na. During this time, I discovered Craniosacral Therapy, and, subsequently, Osteopathy. I changed my course of study and graduated the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine with my doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000, also completing a one-year fellowship in anatomy and osteopathic manipulative medicine. I completed a one-year internship at Eastmoreland Hospital, focusing on family medicine and chronic pain management. During this time, I spent time training at both the OHSU Pain Clinic and in pediatrics at Emmanuel Children’s Hospital. I have also completed a 600-hour massage program at East-West College of Healing Arts in Portland, OR. In all my years in the healthcare field, I have seen the most profound and lasting recovery from injury and pain occur through the use of bodywork, particularly craniosacral work. My promise to my clients is that I will use all my knowledge and experience to help them lead fuller and more active life. |
